Boycott Targets

Our boycott targets are separated into two categories: priority targets and pressure targets.

Why are they on the boycott targets list?

Our Priority Targets are based on the boycott targets of BDS and the No Appetite for Apartheid campaigns. They have been carefully selected both for their egregious complicity and for the likelihood of success in applying pressure to them. See BDS guidelines for more details.

Note: Some BDS targets are not included in our targets list, not because we disagree with boycotting them, but because they have virtually no consumer presence in the city of Baltimore. This includes targets such as Chevron, Siemens, and Carrefour. For the sake of simplifying our targets list to only targets that can be found in Baltimore, they have not been included. However, they should still be boycotted and divested from.

Israeli wine/produce

The AFB campaign calls for a total boycott of all Israeli produce and wine, due to its documented usage as a tool of displacement and ethnic cleansing by the Israeli state [1][2][3]. Some common examples include:

• Popular Israeli brands, e.g. SodaStream, Ahava Dead Sea Minerals, etc.

• Israeli produce exporters, e.g. Arava, Hadiklaim, Jaffa Oranges, Mehadrin, etc.

• Israeli date companies, e.g. Jordan River, King Solomon Dates, etc.

• Israeli pantry goods, e.g. Haddar, Osem, Tivall, etc.

• Israeli tahini companies, e.g. Soom Foods, Little Sesame, Mighty Sesame, Seed+Mill, etc.

• Israeli wineries, e.g. Barkan Wine, Yarden Winery, etc.

Fast food targets

• McDonald's and Burger King both donated meals directly to the IOF [4][5] and McDonald's additionally sued BDS Malaysia for damages [6]. Read the full statement on McDonald's from BDS here.

• Domino's Pizza, Papa John's, and Pizza Hut all donated food to the IOF and posted public support of the IOF [7][8][9].

• Starbucks sued their own worker's union for expressing public support of the Palestinian cause [10] and have a documented history of extensive anti-union efforts [11][12].

Grocery Products

• Coca-Cola's exclusive franchisee in Israel operates out of the Atarot settlement industrial zone [13]. Like all settlement industrial zones, the Atarot industrial zone is used as a tool for the forcible displacement of Palestinians [14], and the businesses that operate on them are committing crimes against international law [3]. • SodaStream is an Israeli company. Like Coca-Cola, it also operated out of a settlement industrial zone [15] until moving its plant to the Naqab desert, where it now directly colludes with the Israeli state in its ethnic cleansing campaign known as the Prawer Plan [16].

• Sabra Hummus is a product of PepsiCo. Until 2024, it was a partnership between PepsiCo and Strauss Group, an Israeli food company which proudly boasts its support of the IOF Golani Brigade [17]. Palestinians have long called for the boycott of Sabra [18]. We continue our boycott of Sabra to pressure PepsiCo into understanding that their continued actions against the Palestinian people will not be ignored.

• Wonderful Pistachios is the namesake of the Wonderful Company, a major pressure target of our campaign. See our pressure targets list for more information.

Pressure Targets

• Mondelez International has partnered with and invested in Israeli food-tech initiatives. In particular, Mondelez has a collaboration with The Kitchen, a food-tech incubator associated with Israel's Strauss Group, giving the company access to Israeli startups and technologies. Mondelez International is a pressure target, so please avoid as many of their products as is feasible for you. Some examples of their major products are Oreo, Ritz, Chips Ahoy!, Wheat Thins, Triscuit, Cadbury, Toblerone, Milka, Sour Patch Kids, Swedish Fish, Trident, belVita, Tang, and Philadelphia Cream Cheese.

• Nestle has been involved in countless scandals, all at the expense of marginalized, vulnerable populations. They also have a longstanding ownership stake in Osem, one of Israel's largest food manufacturers. Some examples of their major products are KitKat, Nescafé, Nespresso, Nesquik, Purina, Gerber, Perrier, San Pellegrino, Cheerios, Hot Pockets, Lean Cuisine, and Stouffer's.

• PepsiCo has extensive ties with Israel's Strauss Group. The company also owns SodaStream and has a major stake in Sabra, both long-standing subjects of the boycott campaign. Major brands of PepsiCo include Pepsi, Gatorade, Mountain Dew, Lay's, Doritos, Cheetos, Ruffles, Quaker Oats, Tropicana, Aquafina, Rockstar Energy, and SodaStream.

• The Coca-Cola Company has operated in Israel since the 1960s and has made substantial investments in the Israeli economy. Major brands include Coca-Cola, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite, Fanta, Powerade, Dasani, Smartwater, Minute Maid, Simply, Fairlife, and Topo Chico.

• The Wonderful Company is owned by the American billionare couple Stewart and Lynda Resnick, who have provided substantial financial support to Israel’s military and related organizations, with annual donations through the American Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces. Major brands include Wonderful Pistachios, Halos Mandarins, POM Wonderful, FIJI Water, Teleflora, and Wonderful Almonds.

• Sadaf sources goods from Israeli settlements and participates in commercial relationships supporting Israel's occupation of Palestine. Avoid any foods with the Sadaf label. Common foods include basmatic rice, falafel mix, hummus mix, cardamom, tea, pistachos, pickled vegetables, and dried fruits.

• Teva Pharmaceuticals is one of Israel's largest corporations and a major pharmaceutical manufacturer whose operations directly support the Israeli economy. Common Teva products are typically sold as generic medications rather than under widely recognized consumer brands.

Tech

• Dell and HP directly provide the Israeli state the technological means to conduct its apartheid [19][20]. HP is even named directly in the UN's OHCHR report on the matter [21].

• Intel is a target of the global BDS movement. Read their statement here.

• Xbox is a product of Microsoft, a pressure target of the campaign also directly named in the UN's OHCHR report [21]. See more information in our pressure targets list.

• Disney+ is a target of the global BDS movement. Read the statement on their boycott targets list for more information.

• ExpressVPN is owned by an Israeli tech company, Kape Technologies, [22] with ties to Israeli spyware [23].

• Wix is an Israeli tech company. It provides the same service that Israel has a documented history of denying to Palestinians, and profits from the land and resources stolen from Palestinians.

Pressure Targets

• Tech giants like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon have extensive culpability in Israeli apartheid [27][28]. All three are named directly in the OHCHR report by the UN [21].

• Microsoft provides the technological infrastructure directly supporting Israel's genocide of Gaza. Investigations by The Guardian revealed how Microsoft's ties to Israel actually surged since 2023, striking at least $10m in deals to provide technical support. These investigations detail how extensively Israel relies on Microsoft's services to conduct their human atrocities against Palestinians [31][32].

• The BDS movement, in collaboration with allied Microsoft workers (No Azure for Apartheid) are calling for pressure on Microsoft wherever possible when reasonable alternatives exist, including boycotting Microsoft’s Xbox and gaming, cutting institutional contracts with Microsoft and divesting from the company. 

  • Google and Amazon signed a joint $1.22 billion contract in 2021 to provide the technological services and infrastructure for the Israeli government and military to conduct its genocide in Gaza through AI programs such as Lavender and Gospel.

• Booking.com, Airbnb, and Expedia are all listed in the UN database of businesses implicated in Israel's illegal colonial settlement enterprise [21][30]. These businesses are vital to the project of keeping this illegal project alive and are deeply complicit in the displacement of Palestinians [29].

Retail

• Reebok is the main sponsor of the Israel Football Association (IFA), which includes teams on Israel's illegal settlements [24]. See the full statement from the BDS movement here.

• Zara has extensive ties to Israel and its normalization of apartheid, even going so far as to host a campaign event for convicted terrorist [25] and far-right Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir [26]. Read the full statement from the BDS movement on Zara here.

Other targets

• Re/Max is a vital part of the normalization of apartheid by selling, renting, and operating on land that is illegally occupied [21].

• Martin's Caterers is a "local" Baltimore catering company owned by the billionaire Resnick family, who also own and operate The Wonderful Company, a major pressure target. See our pressure targets for more information.
